Yeah, I've made it

Unlike the All Blacks, this girl is a winner!!

It has been interesting for me to note that when I have put aside a decent amount of time and really focused on the 23 things after much huffing and puffing I have really started to get into it.

There are of course amongst all that we have learnt some technologies which are of more value that others. now the exciting thing we have to think about for 2008 is which ones do we want to focus on and include on our Library web site.

Thank you Donna for a fantastic effort in working with us all and ensuring there is a tick in the box even for "The Boss".

PS. Thanks for the great sparkly tree.

Podcasts

Played around a bit with this one. the examples provided by 23 Things were not really what a was looking for but I did find by doing a Google search that it could be found if you had the time to search. Would like to find a site that has podcasts of whole books, chapter by chapter. Guess they exist, will have to have a search.
The photo was taken in St Ives, Cornwall. One of my favourite places.

YouTube & Rowan Atkin

Sorry Angela, this photo was especially for you.

This was an easy one as I've been playing around in YouTube for sometime now.
I have chosen the Rowan Atkin skit as an Indian Waiter to put on my blog as it makes me laugh every time I see it.
Enjoy!

Stumbleupon

I had a good look around the Web 2.0 Awards narrowing it down by going straight to the winners page. Ended up focusing on Stumblearound which was second in the Social tagging section. Certainly could see no value within the library setting but I guess if you wanting photos of really weird things it would be a place to go. I would imaginge that the people using this have a great deal of time to search these things out and it's a place to show what they have found. Some of the photos were great but others VERY weird. Amazing to know just how many Web 2.0 sites there are out there.

Zoho Writer

VERY clever. I have created two documents using templates. One was a mock up of a could be invitation to the UCOL Library Christmas lunch and the other a letter to Donna thanking her for her efforts in assisting me to complete 23 Things in my quest to receive the sparking christmas tree. I would imagine you use Zoho if you didn't have Office or some such on your home computer?? Is that how it works although I thought you always needed to install at least something. Look forward to the many interesting comments and feedback on this.

Overused Word of the Month

There is a comment on Wikis in the Jan.08 North & South p130 about the need to obliterate the use of the term "wiki". To quote "Using "to wiki" as a verb referring only to wikipedia is not just ugly, it also excludes the other kinds of wiki". have a look.

We can't stop them (wikis) but in my opinion they must be used with the understanding of what they really are. Someones opinion and not hard fact.

This photo is for you Donna. It is the .......

Windows Live Messenger

ummm!!! couldn't get this to install even with Donna's help. I understand that it is pretty much the same as skype and with Sharon's insistance we are skyping from time to time.
Anyway, Donna has confirmed that I have tried with this and that's good enough for her.
